Darwinism and (R)evolution: Paradigm Shifts and Science Through Time

Harvard College, Fall 2021

In the Fall 2021 semester, I took GenEd 1004: Understanding Darwinism. For my final project for the course, I created a github site with a timeline of major scientific paradigm shifts, their significance, how they relate to a work of art, and their relation to a modern scientific paper. Moreover, I also had a VR art gallery component, too! This project made me extremely comfortable with Markdown and building an engaging website. I also had to read a loooot of scientific papers, so this project definitely made me much more comfortable reading scientific papers efficiently and accurately. Moreover, I also got really familiar with tinkering with html in general, as well as Darwinism and the history of evolutionary thought. I had a lot of fun with this project, and the idea that it’s so easily-accessible is cool!

This was also the first project I used Zotero and the Zotero Chrome extension for. I’d used Mendeley for many previous years, but Mendeley’s desktop app has now stopped working for me (rip), so it seems that I’ve now switched to Zotero. All in all, using Zotero really streamlined my bibliography creation. (I am not sponsored by Zotero or Mendeley, lol. As someone who very often has to collect and keep track of sources for coursework, I just have Many Thoughts on citation/bibliography managers.)
